LAZY SUNDAY AFTERNOON....

It is cooooldddd!!! so, I spent the day getting ready for a swap that I am participating in on Swap-Bot. It is a valentine's swap and the rules were to send at least 6 items that match the profile of your partner - that was no easy task as my partner doesn't like pink - hard to find valentine's items with no pink - LOL, but I think I managed OK. The only really pink thing was a bit of pink on the box. This was a really fun swap to do - will have to wait a day or so to post it as the weather is so bad.

11 MONTHS TILL CHRISTMAS!!!

Yes, well, Christmas is my favorite time of the year..... and it always helps to get ahead start on projects, especially in the quilting world. I think perhaps the 3 Stooges quilt will be an '08 Christmas gift.
Today is a quilting day as I have a few customer quilts to get done and better get at it. We are having a lovely "chinook" day in Calgary - which means that we have better than seasonal temperatures. BUT, in the next few days we are back to Winter.

I did spend the day quilting today - and had a great time. My favorite thing in the world is to freehand quilt!! Here's an example of some leaves and vines. I just love to free hand. Most of the quilting that I have done the last two years has been free hand; but, I have had to rethink this lately as I have had many customers who want pantograph designs. So, I have added pantographs to the types of quilting that I do.

on the UFO that I was working on this past weekend. I have managed to completed it and it's pretty cute. Although, I think you need to be a 3 stooges luver to enjoy it. My BIL is, so it will be his - probably for Christmas.

I had such a great time with this little lap quilt. I don't think I will do too much in the way of quilting - just a simple stipple or swirly pattern.

UFO Ponderings....

it is a cold and snowy day here in Alberta - we haven't had much of those lately. So, today I am going to do a little housework and a little sewing. What constitutes a UFO?? is it something you have already started - or is it just an idea. I was thinking about that when I decided to work on a "3 Stooges" quilt for my BIL. I have had the 3 Stooges fabric for awhile and just decided that i will combine it with other fabrics for a quilt... Is this a UFO??? I guess so... then my whole entire sewing room is filled with UFO's - LOL........ I don't have room to list them all here, then....

I completed my Baa Baa Sisterhood quilt and have moved it from the "piecing" UFO list to the "quilting" UFO lift - LOL....hmmm do I need to make another
list of "who's going to get this quilt"???

On another note, for all you BOTON TERRIER LUVERS out there. Boston Resuce is having a fundraiser - a Valentine Auction. Cute little stufffies that are being auctioned off by our "junior volunteers"

HAPPY MONDAY

Well, it's Monday - and looks like I am coming down with some sort of cold or sore throat. I did some hand applique today and finished some more of my dresden plate blocks. These blocks were given to me from a retirement center in Penticton, B.C., - they were at a "white elephant sale table". The fabrics are all vintage and the fans were cut out by hand and sewn together by machine - then appliqued by hand onto a poly background. I am almost finished appliqueing them all - I felt that I just had to complete this project for whomever had started it. When they are finished I should have enough blocks for 2 quilts.

My first completed quilt project for 2008 was a small table runner that I made from blocks left over from a small baby quilt. This will make a nice swap gift or secret sister gift, or just a gift for someone I like!

Today I am Thankful for:
My cold is only mild, I have the day off work!

BOSTON TERRIERS...

Many of my friends know that I am crazy for Boston Terriers, I have two, Magpie and Tooie (mother and son). I am also extremely involved in Boston Terrier Club of Canada Rescue. Many times when I take pictures of my quilts - there will be a little boston terrier in it - not necessarily my own boston but sometimes one of my rescues. If you look at the "All Through The Woods" quilt in the previous post you will see one of these little bostons - his name is Baxter and he stayed with us for a short time before going to a foster home, then being adopted out to a new family in Edmonton! I also make many quilts, dolls, and other items that Rescue uses for fundraising - I am always willing to help out these little guys. Some of these projects can be seen on my webshots photos.
If you are interested in Boston Terrier Rescue - can foster or would like to adopt, or even make a donation OR perhaps you would like to know when I am hosting my next fundraising event for them - please email me or go to Boston Terrier Club of Canada Rescue.

SEW EXCITED......

to be setting up a new blog. I hope to keep you up to date on my quilting business, REQUEIM QUILTING, and my quilting progress.

I have been nosing around lots of blogs and there seems to be so much "stuff" going on in blogs, in order to participate in that "stuff" you need a blog - so here I go.

Happy New Year!

One of my big goals this year is to quilt ALL of MY quilts that i have stashed away... those include a french braid quilt,

my son's graduation quilt (needs to be done by May, 2008),

My All Through the Woods Quilt

and a few vintage quilt tops that I have purchased.

Then, of course, are my UFO's - a list of which i am going to post and cross off as i do them! The first couple of UFO's I need to finish are my guild challenge (due this June) and a block of the month quilt that i have been working on for a couple of years. That is almost done - just have to sash and sew the borders on. The list of UFO's got bigger over Christmas, as I received a few new things to work on!
